We have submitted to ESD three new services delivered by county and unitary authorities for inclusion in the Local Government Service List.
- Local Involvement Networks (LINks)
LINks are made up of individuals and community groups who work together to improve local health and social care services. The Department of Health has approached us to use the Local Directgov look up to direct people to contact details for their local LINk team from the article on Directgov. Currently, this information is held in a PDF on another site, which must be updated manually and replaced. Local Directgov would offer an improved user journey for visitors by taking them directly to information about their local scheme and ensure that the information is more up to date. - Local Area Agreements (LAAs)
LAAs set out the priorities for a local area agreed between central government and a local area (the local authority and Local Strategic Partnership) and other key partners at the local level. There will be an article about LAAs on Directgov by 30 June 2008. We would like to provide links out to local council sites from this article so that citizens can find out more about what is happening in their area, once this information is available on council websites. - 14-19 area prospectuses
Content on the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) site for 14-19 year-old education is being converged to Directgov. This website provides links to prospectuses for local areas about courses and qualifications available for 14-19 year-olds. DCSF has requested to use the Local Directgov application instead of the current map of England on this site. Each region on this map links through to a list of text links, which direct the visitor to the home page of the website offering information about the prospectuses. Again, we hope to improve this journey by using Local Directgov to take the visitor straight to the local information they need.
We will be in touch with unitary and county councils to collect links once these new services have been approved by ESD for inclusion in the next release of the Local Government Service List, due on 30 June 2008.
