Directgov Campaigns and Useful Links

Campaigns on Directgov

Campaigns are run on the Directgov website to highlight a particular topic. These are usually full of resources that could add to content already on council websites. For example, if your website has information about greener living you could add a link to the Act on CO2 carbon calculator on Directgov to give visitors to your site extra information about how to make their homes more energy efficient.

Deep links to Directgov

At the request of council web teams, we have put together a list of pages in Directgov to help councils to extend their own websites. The list covers content from across the Directgov website.

Linking to Directgov

Please follow Directgov's advice when linking to the Directgov website.

If you would like to add these links to your website, please:

  1. Use the supplied ‘link text' in the spreadsheet
The links have been designed to help to improve the ranking of Directgov in search results to make government information easier to find online
  2. Use the supplied ‘title text' in the spreadsheet for the title attribute, if possible.
This text is read by speaking browsers and is visible to users when their mouse hovers over the link
  3. Use the ‘friendly URL' as the link on your page.
This means that the link won't break if the content on Directgov moves

Source code is available in the spreadsheet, which follows the guidance outlined above.
