Blue Badge Map

Directgov's online Blue Badge map service has now been significantly improved.

This service is aimed at Blue Badge holders who travel either as drivers or as passengers, and at other people with limited mobility.

The old version

  • First of its kind, it launched on Directgov's disabled people section in July 2006 to make it easier for disabled people to find Blue Badge parking bays in 64 places across the UK
  • It enabled search by postcode or area name for designated Blue Badge parking bays, Red Route parking bays in London, public toilets with accessibility information and petrol stations with facilities information
  • It also outlined addresses, the number of spaces, any time restrictions or special notices that apply to individual allocated Blue Badge parking bays

The updated version

  • The number of towns covered has increased to 119
  • The user interface is cleaner and has more comprehensive search tools and navigation aids

Additional features have been added, including:

  • Train stations with accessibility information
  • Taxi ranks
  • Toll information for bridges and tunnels, where applicable
  • Airport plans highlighting facilities for users (top 20 airports)
  • Accessible beaches
  • National Key Scheme toilets (Radar)
  • Shopmobility centres
  • Mobility centres
  • Wheelyboat locations
